What foreign registrars want

Italy’s nulla osta file, Spain’s expediente, US marriage licences — all start with certified proof of your Swiss civil status. This is that document.

Mind the validity window

Most receiving authorities want it under 3–6 months old at the ceremony. We time the issue date to your wedding — order 2–3 months ahead.

Questions about this document

Is this the same as a "certificate of no impediment"?
Functionally yes for most countries: it certifies your current status from the Swiss register. Some registrars ask additionally for a Swiss "certificate of capacity to marry" issued in a specific procedure — name your destination and we prepare the exact document its registrar accepts.
How fresh must the certificate be?
Typically under 3–6 months at the date of the ceremony, depending on the country. We recommend ordering 2–3 months before the wedding — enough for apostille and translation, still fresh on the day.
I’m divorced — does it show that?
It states your current status ("divorced") with the relevant dates. If the foreign registrar also wants divorce proof, add the divorce extract to the same order.
